On September 10, 2025, ANB convened its members’ Responsible Gaming Officers for an in-depth workshop facilitated by Mr. Fisayo Oke, CEO of GambleAlert. The session reaffirmed our collective commitment to player protection and the sustainable growth of the gaming industry.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WORKSHOP

The workshop offered an in-depth exploration of what responsible gambling truly means. Key stakeholders were identified, and discussions focused on how to balance the entertainment value of gambling with the need for harm prevention, emphasizing the importance of collective commitment from all parties.

We went further to examine the “responsible gambling dilemma,” covering issues such as perception conflicts, conflicting interests, accountability debates, underage gambling, informed decision-making for players, and responsible advertising practices, among others.

Participants also gained valuable takeaways, including addressing common gambling misconceptions, identifying problem gambling indicators and harm markers, and reinforcing the importance of supporting informed choices. The session further highlighted the need for effective interventions, player support systems, and practical gambling management tools that operators can adopt to enhance customer protection.

At the core of these discussions was a clear message: responsible gaming must extend beyond regulatory compliance—it should be ingrained within operator culture as a genuine commitment to responsibility.
